  we were further cautioned today that perhaps these proceedings ought to be delayed because certainly there would be new evidence forthcoming from the president of the united states. there has not even been an obfuscated indication that this committee would receive any additional materials from the president. the committee subpoena is outstanding, and if the president wants to supply that material, the committee sits here. the fact is that on yesterday, the american people waited with great anxiety for eight hours, not knowing whether their president would obey an order of the supreme court of the united states.

  at this point, i would like to juxtapose a few of the impeachment criteria with some of the actions the president has engaged in. impeachment criteria: james madison, from the virginia ratification convention. "if the president be connected in any suspicious manner with any person and there be grounds to believe that he will shelter him, he may be impeached."

  we have heard time and time again that the evidence reflects the payment to defendants money. the president had knowledge that these funds were being paid and these were funds collected for the 1972 presidential campaign. we know that the president met with mr. henry petersen 27 times to discuss matters related to watergate, and immediately thereafter met with the very persons who were implicated in the information mr. petersen was receiving. the words are: "if the president is connected in any suspicious manner with any person and there be grounds to believe that he will shelter that person, he may be impeached."

  I have always admired the long healthy life my grandparents have. They are older than 80 years of age and they are still alive and kicking! How do they do that!? I am not complaining that they gave me a bad childhood, they just fight so much! I am unhappy but that does not mean they do not love me. They do! They love me with all their heart. I love my parents also; I want them to live a happy life as well.

  I want to travel this great country of ours. I want to see the beauty of our country. I want to see the miracles that made this country great! I want to go from the east to west, from the north all the way down to the south! I have a dream, that one day I can travel and see my country with my family and friends! If that is not possible, seeing my country on my own is good enough also. If I can fulfill all three of my dreams in life, then God can take me away. I would be happy, and l would have lived a full and prosperous life.

  4:举止大方,表现自然,与观众有目光交流。有适当的肢体语言,有才艺展示。

  1、比赛规则

  1)比赛以公平公正为原则,以丰富和活跃校园生活、促进交流与沟通为宗旨,分为预赛和决赛二个阶段,预赛在级部内部进行,由各级部自行组织实施,选出5名选手参与决赛。决赛在整个高二级部内部进行。

  2)大赛分为自我介绍,演讲比赛,才艺展示三个环节。依据评委打分计算出成绩,最后颁发一等奖、二等奖、三等奖和参与奖。

  第一个环节:选手简要作自我介绍,大约每人1分钟,由评委打分(20分)。

  第二个环节:演讲总分50分。选手依次上台演讲,大约每人五分钟。

  第三个环节:才艺展示总分30分。

  第四个环节:演讲结束后,由评委作总评。并依据比赛成绩宣布各参赛选手成绩。

  五、具体评分细则:

  评委明确给出每部分评分(评分为整数),由工作人员进行最后加总,去掉最高分与最低分,取平均分为选手比赛成绩,按成绩排名分别获一、二、三等奖。

  2月2日下午,我要参加阿斯顿英语学校举行的口语演讲比赛的总决赛。虽然我并没有任何压力,可妈妈却认为,进入决赛的同学们都是水平很高的,他们的英语口语非常好,你学英语起步晚,平时在家又没怎么练,对名次、奖励什么的别抱太大期望,重在参与就好。

  听了妈妈的这番话,我并没有往心里去,而是继续认真的背诵演讲稿,心想,我一定要得奖。

  时间不知不觉的来到了这一天,我心里多少也没底,因为并不知道其他参赛选手的实力如何。不过,我对自己还是有信心的',希望自己能取得一个不错的成绩。

  那天下午,我早早的来到了比赛场地。发现来了的同学们都在认真的看自己的演讲稿,我找到一个比较靠前的座位,边看演讲稿,边等待比赛的开始。

  两点整,比赛正式开始。主持人Vivian宣读了比赛规则以及评分标准。然后让我们到评委席去抽签决定比赛顺序。我本以为自己能抽到中间的位置,没想到竟然抽了个第二。看来得好好发挥了。

  很快就轮到我了,我从老师的手中接过话筒,走上舞台,先鞠了一躬。之后稍作停顿,开始了演讲。我演讲的内容是介绍我的学校生活,就像在家里无数次练习的那样,内容早已背诵的滚瓜烂熟,我并不感到紧张。只是,中途不知为什么,话筒好像出了问题,时好时坏,使大家听到的声音是断断续续的。我没有被这个小问题干扰到,努力大声地演讲,等话筒一好就稍稍减弱声音。这样,大家并没有听出声音有什么变化。不知不觉中,我的演讲内容结束了。这时候,轮到外教提问了。我走下舞台,从一堆纸条里面任意抽了两张,分别是banana和boy,我仔细看了一眼便作了回答。OK,我顺利过关了,心情顿时轻松了不少。

  接下来,开始听其他选手演讲。

  我本以为这次参加演讲的选手实力都很强,没想到几乎个个都紧张的不得了,影响了各自的实力发挥。这让我悬着的心稍稍放了下来。

  到了宣布结果的时候了,我紧张又认真的听着。哦!我的总分是94分,竟然顺利的进入了前三名,获得三等奖!不光有奖学金,还有证书以及一套迪士尼学习用品。看来,我的努力没有白费,如愿以偿的实现了我得奖的愿望。

  但是,我不能骄傲,不能满足这小小的成绩。今后我要再接再厉,多听多练,争取在英语口语方面更上一层楼,在以后的比赛中得到更好的成绩。

  英语作为一种国际通用语言,在国际交流与合作日益增多的今天,其主流地位和作用将会愈加凸显。能否准确纯熟地使用英语,特别是交流和演讲能力的高低,将会直接影响到在校大学生今后的就业问题以及能否为国家和社会做出更大的贡献。因此,大学生尤其迫切需要在不断的锻炼、比较和竞争中,注重培养英语交际能力,提高自身的综合英语水平,才能在日趋激烈的社会竞争中找到自身的发挥之地。

  二、活动目的:

  本次由学习部举办的.信息学院英语演讲比赛,旨在激发同学们的学习兴趣和提高同学们的英语口语水平,以及提供一个可以展现自我,激励他人的舞台,并且加强在校大学生的竞争意识。

  三、活动细节:

  参赛对象:山师信息学院所有学生

  2、组委会成员:

  宣传部:海报设计,活动前期宣传。

  每位参赛选手五道词汇分析填空题,每题答复限时10秒,积分制。

  决赛

  (1).“PPT英语口语show”(满分100分)

  幻灯片主题可以为人物,风景,建筑,大事等感兴趣话题,由选手自定。支持原创,即相机手机记录身边事,或激动或批评或感悟,难忘等,结合英语配讲。酌情加分。

  (2).即兴演讲(满分100分)

  十六位晋级选手随机自选多媒体屏幕所示十六道题号中一道(此为不同主题的情景题问答形式),30秒现场准备时间,口头英语表达观点,三分钟时间上限。

  要求:观点新颖,发音标准,语速适中,语体正确,切忌汉式英语表达。

  (3).秀出风采(100分)

  英文秀艺前提下或歌曲或诗朗诵或情景模拟口语对话或其他。由选手自定。

  如果是情景模拟对话要求至少两人,时间适当,内容丰富,主题鲜明有启迪意义。

  Senior year

  The day before prom she walked to my locker. My date is sick" she said; he's not going to go well, I didn't have a date, and in 7th grade, we made a promise that if neither of us had dates, we would go together just as "best friends". So we did. Prom night, after everything was over, I was standing at her front door step. I stared at her as she smiled at me and stared at me with her crystal eyes. I want her to be mine, but she isn't think of me like that, and I know it. Then she said "I had the best time, thanks!" and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I want to tell her, I want her to know that I don't want to be just friends, I love her but I'm just too shy, and I don't know why.

  Graduation Day

  A day passed, then a week, then a month. Before I could blink, it was graduation day. I watched as her perfect body floated like an angel up on stage to get her diploma. I wanted her to be mine, but she didn't notice me like that, and I knew it. Before everyone went home, she came to me in her smock and hat, and cried as I hugged her. Then she lifted her head from my shoulder and said, "you're my best friend, thanks" and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I want to tell her, I want her to know that I don't want to be just friends, I love her but I'm just too shy, and I don't know why.

  A Few Years Later

  Now I sit in the pews of the church. That girl is getting married now. I watched her say "I do" and drive off to her new life, married to another man. I wanted her to be mine, but she didn't see me like that, and I knew it. But before she drove away, she came to me and said "you came!". She said "thanks" and kissed me on the cheek. I want to tell her, I want her to know that I don't want to be just friends, I love her but I'm just too shy, and I don't know why.

  Funeral

  Years passed, I looked down at the coffin of a girl who used to be my "best friend". At the service, they read a diary entry she had wrote in her high school years. This is what it read: I stare at him wishing he was mine, but he doesn't notice me like that, and I know it. I want to tell him, I want him to know that I don't want to be just friends, I love him but I'm just too shy, and I don't know why. I wish he would tell me he loved me! `I wish I did too...` I thought to my self, and I cried.

  I'm wuhaitao from the Development of Information Engineering. It's my honor to be here today to give you this speech. My topic is "protecting the environment". Looking around us,we can see that polluction is posing a threat to our earth, which comes in many ways. Millions of the chimneys of the factories are pouring heavy smoke into air,which causes serious air polution.

  A large amount of waste water from factories pollutes water ,making the rivers fishless and our water unfit to drink and swim in. Further more,a lot of trees have been cut down without proper plans.,which continues to the soil being washed away. It seems that we really have no clean place to live in.

  The pollution is so serious that we have to find effective solutions to it. As far as I'm concerned , the goverment should pass laws to reduce poiiuted air. Some measures should be taken to purify the water bsfore it is poured into the rivers or seas. We should plant more trees to keep the soil in place. What's more, people should be further educated to realize the importance of the environment pritection. Thus we will have clean and tidy environment.

  四、活动简述

  本次活动面向全体中学生,比赛为初赛、复赛、决赛三个环节。活动不仅能为同学们提供一个展示自己能力与才华的舞台、丰富课余生活,而且可以提高同学们学习英语的热情与激情。

  五、活动流程

  1、初赛、复赛(时间:10月8日—10月11日)

  说明:初赛、复赛各班自行举办,每班选出8名英语口语、表达及综合能力较强者进入复赛,在复赛中选出最优秀的4名选手参加决赛。提倡办出特色,办出水平,推举优秀选手,以保证比赛质量。

  2、决赛:(时间:10月17日星期四下午2:00—4:50)

  说明:演讲主题不限,选手可在主题范围内自定小标题。演讲内容可涉及学习、工作、生活中的点点滴滴,人生观、价值取向,人与人之间的关系等方面。文体形式不限,可叙述、可议论、可抒情,但要真实,体现个性。语言风格要求生动活泼,有感染力。每人限时三分钟。

  (1)、选手演讲顺序于比赛前一天抽签决定,参赛选手出场顺序按抽签决定,从小号到大号依次参加比赛。

  (2)、比赛程序:

  A。比赛开始:主持人入场,介绍领导,宣布赛制。B。选手依次登台演讲。

  (3)、比赛规则:

  A。 成绩计算:评委根据选手综合表现现场打分(评分保留两位小数),评委成绩中去掉一个最高分和一个最低分后的平均分为参赛选手的最终成绩。

  B。 参赛选手的最终成绩,从高分到低分依次排列名次,确定获奖等次。

  八、注意事项

  1、提前通知所有参赛人员,若在比赛中,三次提示未到的选手,视为自动放弃比赛。

  2、初赛各班选拔参赛选手要认真对待。

  3、抽签做到公平公正。

  4、各负责人及评委保证比赛时的秩序,在每场比赛前做好充分的准备工作,以利于选手在比赛时发挥自己的最佳水平。

  5、演讲者到指定区域就坐,其他同学以班级为单位就坐。

  6、评分要严格按照评分标准进行,最后负责人上缴评分原始材料。

  7、选手进行3分钟自选题目的演讲,演讲尽量为脱稿演讲。

  8、各班级选择男女主持各一名;进入决赛选手名单、演讲稿提前一周上交。

  one day, the boy returned and the tree was so excited. “come and play with me,” the tree said. “i don't have time to play. i have to work for my family. we need a house for shelter. can you help me?” “sorry, but i don't have a house. but you can chop off my branches to build your house.” so the boy cut all the branches off the tree and left happily. the tree was glad to see him happy but the boy never came back since then. the tree was again lonely and sad.

  one hot summer day, the boy returned and the tree was delighted. “come and play with me!” the tree said. “i am sad and getting old. i want to go sailing to relax myself. can you give me a boat?” “use my trunk to build your boat. you can sail far away and be happy.” so the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. he went sailing and never showed up for a long time. the tree was happy, but it was not true.

  finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years. “sorry, my boy. but i don't have anything for you anymore. no more apples for you…” the tree said.

  “i don't have teeth to bite,” the boy replied.

  “no more trunk for you to climb on.”

  “i am too old for that now,” the boy said.

  “i really can't give you anything… the only thing left is my dying roots,” the tree said with tears.

  “i don't need much now, just a place to rest. i am tired after all these years.” the boy replied.
